Government-run health care Alive and Well
While the so-called “public option” may be dead, government-run health care is alive and well.
Congressional Democrats are working in secret behind closed doors to decide whether to create a massive new federal health care bureaucracy based in Washington.
But wait, didn’t the Senate kill government-run health care? Didn’t key senators say they would never vote for a bill that put the federal government in control of our health? That’s true. The Senate bill does not have a public plan or a new federal government health insurance exchange.
But the House legislation includes a new national health insurance exchange run from Washington. And as Democrats secretly craft the final bill, many in Washington believe it will include this new federal bureaucracy.
What’s at Stake?
The Democrats' plan will create a presidentially appointed “Health Care Czar” and costly new bloated bureaucracy that will ultimately have the power to make decisions about your health plan and thus the treatments you receive. This Czar and Super-Bureaucracy will eviscerate individual choice and lead to unilateral federal government decision making about patient care, including decisions on access to prescription drugs and new medical technologies.
The Democrats' federal exchange will be WORSE and more INSIDIOUS than the so-called “public plan.”
The federal exchange will:
- Create an unelected new government bureaucracy that will not have to answer to the American public but will cost taxpayers billions.
- Empower a Czar-like autocracy that is not required to consult with patients (other than Indian tribes) or health care providers when making unilateral decisions about health care choices, such as what treatments and prescription medicines are covered by your plan.
- Give the government the ability to impose penalties on patients, doctors, employers and other with no check or balance system in place to ensure those penalties are fair and justified.
- Allow the Health Czar to shape and influence immigration policy with the power to grant illegal immigrants health care tax credits based on process different than that in current law – meaning your tax dollars will subsidize health care for illegal immigrants.

Dear Congress members,
Like so many Americans, I’m worried about my health care. My gravest concern is the so-called public plan “option.” Government intervention doesn’t create competition, it kills it. I don’t want the longer waits, rationed care, and higher costs that accompany government-run plans. Everyone agrees that reform is needed. What we don’t need is a massive $1 trillion government program that co-opts our health care and leaves us with fewer choices
